"He is lower than scum! He is hotdog water!"
It's that time of year again! Yes, Hollywood gives out awards for artists' talent and dedication to the craft, and I mock them bitterly. Unfortunately this year, my mocking will be curtailed by the fact that the WGA isn't writing the shows and SAG isn't going, so really, they're not happening at all.

Speaking of, the WGA Strike is going nowhere, but SAG is being all solidarity and refusing to cross picket lines. Except when, ya know, they're being paid to.

But the networks have these actors on their payrolls, so they might has well find something to do with them, right? Right? But what, you ask, could they possibly do with a bunch of actors who have no words to speak?

Well, ABC has found a way to make those actors earn their keep! That's right! A grand total of SIXTY-ONE new promo shots of Pushing Daisies have been released! And may I say, they're pretty much the cutest things I've ever seen. Trust me when I say: there is nothing cuter than Anna Friel eating a flower. As weird as that sounds, it's completely true. Check it out. Check this out, too. Aren't they cute?

I'm also instating a new weekly thing to replace my recaplets (although Torchwood is due to go live any week now): Who Knew? Yes, I learn fun facts every day, and now, to the great delight I'm sure of the three people who read this journal regularly (at least one of which might be imaginary)... I'll be sharing those facts with you.

Who knew that Kristen Bell and Jennifer Carpenter were both in the original run of the Broadway revival of The Crucible starring Liam Neeson and Laura Linney, as Susannah Walcott and Mary Warren respectively? Besides, ya know, everyone who saw it and/or read the cast list. Is it just me, or would KB have made an awesome Abigail Williams? But then, I think it's an unwritten rule that Abigail must suck - I've never seen that part performed well. Does anyone have an opinion on Winona Rhyder in the movie, 'cause I haven't seen that... (it's my secret shame)

Who knew that Lindsey, Miriam, Marian, Crystal, Emma, and Joyce were all originally men's names? Well, I knew the first two, but not the others. So maybe Joss Whedon wasn't going crazy when he started naming his girls Fred and his boys Jayne...

Who knew that Anna Friel looked that much like Zooey Dechanel? They could be twins.

signing off for now,
